Questions posed to undecided voters, and their responses, that revealed the “Shy” Trump Vote, included the following:
- 66 percent said a relative or friend plans to vote for Trump, while 34 percent said a relative or friend does not plan to vote for Trump.
- 52 percent said President Trump will be reelected, while 48 percent said he will not.
The poll also gives the president a 309 to 229 advantage in the Electoral College in the 2020 presidential race.
Trump won the Electoral College vote on election day 2016 by a 306 to 232 margin, and lost the popular vote by two points, 48 percent to 46 percent.
According to the Democracy Institute/Sunday Express poll, three states are projected to have a different outcome in 2020 than was the case in 2016. Trump is currently projected to win Minnesota and New Hampshire in 2020, states which Hillary Clinton won in 2016. Biden is currently projected to win Wisconsin in 2020, a state Trump narrowly won in 2016.
